Hi!! My name’s Melissa and I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, that initial memory being a news article I wrote about my experience at a summer camp when I was 10. This expectedly triggered a long lasting onslaught of “you’re mature for your age” comments, but also introduced me to the medium that has always made the most sense to me.

I love anything and everything art related, but have a soft spot for music and the written text. I’ve only been able to process life’s largest feelings through a gut-wrenching song or a thoughtful character-arc in a film, so I’ve learned to latch onto anything I find that is unflinchingly human. I strive to capture this feeling through my work, depicting what is true to me that can’t be articulated any other way. I write when my internal reality becomes too overwhelming to bear, when speech fails and I can only process things after hours of stewing about all the things I have observed, have felt and wished I said in the moment. IN FLUX embodies this notion and is a place for all of my more interesting ruminations.

Writing has also been a somewhat isolating endeavor for me, so this blog is meant to hold me accountable in sharing my work that will hopefully resonate with you. I welcome you to read and feel and leave with some new and exciting thoughts. Thank you for the support!

Many thanks to my editor and dear friend Aeman Ali, who this blog couldn’t exist without!
